Art Small sings--funny!

Some light-hearted stuff from the campaign trail of little-known Art Small for Senate in Iowa.  Also check out the new video for my song "Come Clean", endorsing Art Small.

This from the Des Moines Register:

A radio ad, which likely will go down as one of strangest and funniest in Iowa political history, has U.S. Senate candidate Art Small singing about sending Chuck Grassley back to Iowa.

Small's voice tends to wobble a bit, and with his pronounced New England accent it makes for what they call must-listen radio. It goes:

"How you gonna get him back on the fahm, afta he's seen D.C.?

How you gonna keep the lobbyists away,

How you gonna let the people have their say?

How are we gonna chuck Chuck back to the fahm, afta he's seen Dee Ceeeeeeee?"

This is available on Small's Web site, www.artsmallforsenate.com. One warning, though. I couldn't get the thing to stop playing.

Small has no money and virtually no chance to knock off Grassley, the best-liked politician in Iowa who has a zillion dollars to spend on his fourth re-election.

At least Small is having fun in the last days of his campaign. Good for him.

Why we are losing Iowa--Charles Grassley

As a result of the Democratic Party's ineptitude in deciding not to seriously challenge Senator Charles Grassley, he is single-handedly delivering the Republicans the possibility of winning Iowa.  He just so happens to be Bush's campaign chair in that state as well.

Grassley's opponent, Art Small, had been offered up as a sacrificial lamb by the Democrats, who almost didn't even field a candidate.

The Des Moines Register, October 24, 2004

Yet even as Small and Grassley wage their low-key duel, the campaign is just as much about President Bush as it is about Grassley.

Bush is in a tight race with Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry in Iowa, one of a dwindling handful of battleground states.

Grassley said that he is vastly outspending Small to reintroduce himself to voters who might be new to Iowa or might not remember him - and also to boost Bush.

"Every time I go to an event, I speak of what the president needs to be re-elected," said Grassley.

If we lose Iowa to Bush, Grassley's unabashed use of his own campaign resources for this purpose will be a primary cause. Why hasn't anyone caught this?

New Video and Song--"Come Clean"

A nice recap for anyone wanting to get extra-mad about all the lies.

Also, very anti-Grassley (R-IA).  Charles Grassley is Senate Finance Chair and Bush's cheerleader, voting to back him 99% of the time.

Iowa's ace in the hole

Iowa is the new Ohio indeed.

You probably have no idea who Art Small is, but check him out; he needs support desperately to help build buzz. Everybody has written him off since day one, not for his politics but rather because his opponent is generally viewed as unbeatable. But since he's the Democratic challenger to Charles Grassley (pronounced "EEH-VIL") in Iowa, support of his campaign at this crucial time will go a long way toward tipping the state Blue in the presidential election.

Money, of course, is good--cause he has next to none. In fact, he doesn't even accept donations from special interest groups--never has during his extensive political career. Grassley, on the other hand, caters to special interests and faithfully cheerleads for Bush, at the expense of his constituents and the nation.

More importantly, tell people about Art Small. Spread the word. Among a sea of crooks (yes, Dems too), he is one of the few honest ones you can feel good about. He may not win against Grassley, but he can help Kerry win Iowa.

Please go now. Post something supportive on his blog. Post something on DailyKOS or elsewhere (I don't have rights yet). This word HAS to get out. And it's crazy enough that it might just work. More to come from me.
